Katana’s Success at the 2026 European Championship!

The 2026 European Championships took place in Podgorica, Montenegro, over the weekend of June 19–21.

Once again, spectators were treated to groundbreaking matches both on screen and live at the venue. Representing our club, Alisa Strupp and Hoa Le competed on the women’s team, and Hiroyuki Ohno on the men’s team of the German national squad.

Our women gave it their all and were rewarded accordingly — WITH THE TITLE! They won the women’s team championship and are thus the 2026 European Champions! Alisa also took home a Fighting Spirit Award! Alisa and Hoa: We are incredibly proud of you and congratulate you wholeheartedly on this spectacular achievement!

Unfortunately, the men’s national team was defeated in the semifinals by France, who went on to win the tournament — and thus brought home the bronze medal. Hiro, we also congratulate you wholeheartedly on your nerves of steel!

Simply participating in such an international event is extraordinary in itself — achieving a top finish makes it all the more impressive!

Alisa, Hoa, and Hiro: We’re so happy for you and wish you continued outstanding success on your kendo journey — and, of course, lots of fun!
